Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Scanning Method
Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Scanning is a geophysical scanning method that allows non-destructive, non-invasive inspection of subsurface structures. Quick, safe and effective this method widely used by engineering and utility companies for hidden objects locating as well as for surface profiling.
GPR function by emitting microwave band waves into a subsurface (usually ground) and then picking up the reflected signal back. This method is very similar to how a sonar works except that electromagnetic energy used instead of acoustic energy.
The performance of GPR is determined by electromagnetic characteristics of target medium and ranges from a few meters to a few hundred feet. Combined with computer software GPR can produce detailed 2D & 3D models of underneath features.
